Centarium is in the Gentian Family...which doesn't imply similar uses. However, this family has many taxonomic problems as yet unresolved.

Centarium used to be called Gentiana...the same genus as gentian. It essentially was a Gentian until someone renamed it. Got to get those graduate degrees in botany.

The uses and chemistries are basically the same.
