I make a tincture of Feverfew, skullcap, wood betony, gota kola, passiflora, ginseng, mugwort, and lavender in 160 proof grain alcohol. This is tinctured for a month after which I use it about ten drops at a time when I feel a migraine coming. It usually will prevent further symptoms if taken promptly. I had also been putting cayenne into it but, it made it too spicy to consume so I eliminated that ingredient. On the odd occasion when it doesn't work I can stop the migraine with Ibuprophen (a lot of Ibuprophen) and If that doesn't work I get out the Imetrex injector and boot up. I don't like taking Imetrex (sumatriptan succinate) because it has a lot of unpleasant side effects for me. I also was worried about the whole serotonin reuptake thing (supposedly this is how summatriptan works); I was afraid it was making me irrationally angry at times (then there is that it is 40.00 a dose). I have also had some success with biofeedback but my best results have been from my own remedy.
