Alcohol (60 per cent.), a sufficient quantity.

Moisten the powdered capsicum with 30 (6 fluid ounces) of the alcohol, pack firmly in a suitable percolator, and percolate slowly with the alcohol, added in successive portions, until the drug is exhausted. Recover most of the alcohol by distillation, evaporate the residue on a water-bath until it will barely pour, and preserve in a well-stoppered bottle.

Dose.—3 to 8 milligrams (1/20 to ⅛ grain).
