Carbasus Absorbens Aseptica. Aseptic Absorbent Gauze.

Aseptic absorbent gauze is prepared by enveloping absorbent cotton gauze in loose rolls of any suitable size in closely woven calico, placing them in the chamber of a steam vacuum autoclave, and submitting to steam under a pressure sufficient to produce a temperature of 115° to 121°, for thirty minutes. The dressing is allowed to remain in the chamber till cold and dry, then removed, and immediately packed in sterilised parchment paper. The operator should wear sterilised gloves whilst packing this gauze.
