Bladder-wrack, dried, in No. 20 powder 100.00 | 20 ounces
Alcohol (45 per cent.) ... to 100.00 | to 20 fl. ounces

Moisten the bladder-wrack with 30 (6 fluid ounces) of the alcohol, set aside for twenty-four hours; percolate with a further quantity of the alcohol and reserve the first 90 (18 fluid ounces) of percolate; continue the percolation until the drug is exhausted, evaporate the weak percolate to a soft extract, and dissolve the extract in the strong percolate, set aside for an hour, filter, and wash the residue on the filter with sufficient of the alcohol to make up to the required volume.
Dose.—4 to 8 mils (1 to 2 fluid drachms).
