Tropical Asia. This plant has been introduced from Ceylon under the name of Ceylon tea.

Mauritius Islands, Madagascar and Burma, where it is called let-pet-ben. Its leaves are used by the natives for tea.

South Africa. The drupaceous fruits are edible.
