Sodium Bicarbonate 1.00 | 87 ½ grains
Borax 2.00 | 175 grains
Sodium Benzoate 0.80 | 70 grains
Sodium Salicylate 0.52 | 45 grains
Menthol 0.03 | 2 ½ grains
Thymol 0.05 | 4 ½ grains
Eucalyptol 0.13 | 13 minims
Oil of Pine 0.05 | 5 minims
Oil of Wintergreen 0.03 | 3 minims
Alcohol 2.50 | ½ fl. ounce
Glycerin 10.00 | 2 fl. ounces
Solution of Carmine 0.52 | 50 minims
Purified Talc or Kaolin, a sufficient quantity. |
Distilled Water ... to 100.00 | to 20 fl. ounces

Dissolve the salts in 80 (16 fluid ounces) of the distilled water, and add the glycerin; dissolve the menthol, thymol, eucalyptol, and oils in the alcohol, triturate with the talc or kaolin, add the mixture gradually to the solution of salts, then add the solution of carmine, filter, and pass sufficient distilled water through the filter to make up to the required volume.
