Hamamelis in the Treatment of Hemorrhages.

Botanical name:

I desire to call attention to the use of as common a remedy as witch-hazel, in the treatment of hemorrhages. In severe cases of uterine homorrhages, from any and every cause. I invariably administer it in puerperal hemorrhage. I prescribe thirty drops of distilled witch-hazel every fifteen minutes. I have also successfully used the remedy in pulmonary hemorrhages, although in those cases the intervals may be longer--from two to four hours when prescribed for more or less constant use.
