Pilulae Aconiti Compositae.—Compound Pills of Aconite.

Preparation.—Take of extract of aconite, ½ drachm; extract of stramonium, 4 grains; valerianate of quinine, 20 grains. Mix thoroughly, form a pill mass, and divide into 60 pills.

Action, Medical Uses, and Dosage.—These pills are very efficient in febrile and inflammatory complaints, where nervous irritability, restlessness, or wakefulness is present; also in nervous headache, and other nervous affections. They are but little used at the present time. The dose is 1 pill every 2, 3, or 4 hours, according to the urgency of the symptoms, and the effect caused by the use of the pills (J. King).
