148. PAEONIA.—PEONY. The root of Paeonia officinalis Linné. Seldom used, although at one time a popular remedy in epilepsy, diarrhea, and as an emmenagogue. Occasionally used in chorea, whooping-cough, etc. Dose: 15 to 60 gr. (1 to 4 Gm.), in infusion.
