Photo: Ribes nigrum.

Taxonomy extra:
Branch with berries. It's grown for its berry, of course, but the leaf is good too. You know you have black currant if the leaf has scented yellow dots on the underside. These make for the excellent taste of black currant leaf in teas, or on sandwiches. Bromarv, Finland. Planted. 1997-07-01.
Ribes nigrum L. Engl.: black currant, European black currant. Deu.: Schwarze Johannisbeere, Ahlbeere. Suom.: mustaherukka, mustaviinimarja. Sven.: svarta vinbär, solbär, tistron. Fran.: cassis, cassissier, groseillier noir. Ital.: ribes nero
