Hard Paraffin 12.00 | 2 oz. 175 grains
Liquid Paraffin 48.00 | 9 fl. oz, 288 min.
Oleic Acid 30.00 | 6 fl. ounces
Ammoniated Alcohol (10 per cent.) 10.00 | 2 fl. ounces

Melt the hard paraffin on a water-bath, add the liquid paraffin, the oleic acid, and ammoniated alcohol, and continue the heat until the resulting product weighs 90 (18 ounces).

Thick parogen may be used as an ointment basis when absorption of a drug by the skin is required, but the use of parenol may sometimes be found preferable.
