Quillaia Bark, in No. 40 powder 100.00 | 20 ounces
Alcohol (45 per cent.) ... to 100.00 | to 20 fl. ounces

Add sufficient alcohol to the drug to moisten it thoroughly, and, after allowing to stand for forty-eight hours, percolate until exhausted. Reserve the first 75 (15 fluid ounces) of percolate, recover the alcohol from the subsequent percolate by distillation, evaporate, dissolve the resulting soft extract in the reserved percolate, and add sufficient alcohol to make up to the required volume.
