375. MYROBOLANUS.—MYROBOLANS. The fruit of Termina'lia chebu'la, and of other species of Terminalia growing in the East Indies. Oblong, pyriform, or roundish-oval, from 30 to 50 mm. (1 1/5 to 2 in.) in length, dark brown or orange color. Several varieties of the fruit are used occasionally as a mild laxative and astringent, but now principally in the arts for tanning, etc.
