Cantharis.

Botanical name: 

Dose.—Of the powder, one to two grains, in the form of a pill. Of the tincture, ten drops, gradually increased to one drachm.

Spanish Flies exerts a specific stimulant influence upon the urinary apparatus. It is employed in a variety of diseases affecting the genito-urinary organs, among which may be named passive dropsy, dependent upon torpor of the kidneys, diabetes, paralysis of the bladder, incontinence of urine, amenorrhea dependent upon uterine torpor, in loss of sexual power as an aphrodisiac, in spermatorrhoea, blenorrhoea, gleet, leucorrhoea, and other diseases of the urinary organs attended with a mucous discharge.
