Black Pepper, in No. 40 powder 100.00 | 20 ounces
Acetone, a sufficient quantity.

Exhaust the pepper by slow percolation with the acetone, recover most of the acetone by distillation, set the residue aside in a warm place until the remaining acetone has evaporated, and the deposition of crystals of piperine has ceased, then strain through cotton wool, and preserve in a well-stoppered bottle.

Dose.—15 to 45 milligrams (1/4 to 3/4 grain).
