Acetone, a sufficient quantity.

Moisten the ginger with 35 (7 fluid ounces) of acetone, transfer as quickly as possible to a percolator with a closely fitting cover, pack tightly, and percolate slowly with acetone until exhaustion is complete. Recover most of the acetone from the percolate by distillation, evaporate the residue on a water-bath until it will barely pour, and preserve in a well-stoppered bottle.

Dose.—15 to 60 milligrams (1/4 to 1 grain).
